QT110 Family QTouch™ Sensor ICs
Single Channel Charge-Transfer Touch & Proximity Sensor Chips
IMPORTANT NOTEThe QT110 family parts are no longer recommended for new one channel touch designs. We are committed to supporting customers currently using this product, but recommend either the QT220 or the newly introduced QT100A for any new designs. The QT100A comes in a 10-pin MSOP package or a 6-pin WSON package. The latter is footprint compatible with the QT100 SOT23-6 package. |
QT110 family QTouch™ ICs will create sense fields through dielectric surfaces such as plastic or glass up to 100mm (4") thick, and can even turn small objects into sensors. These sense fields can work easily through gloved hands.
These ICs are ideal for simple, inexpensive touch controls in almost any product. The QT113 and QT118H can also be used for material or moisture sensing. The devices require only an external sampling capacitor and an electrode to operate.
QT110 family devices offer autocalibration, drift compensation, recalibration timeouts, plus a variety of response times, output polarities and toggle modes. These parts need no special calibration or adjustment. They automatically adapt to the build-up of dirt, moisture, and temperature variations.
Sensitivity can be adjusted by changing the value of Cs, and/or via a gain pin.
Most QT110 family devices are designed for human touch. The QT110 and QT118H include piezo beeper drive logic (see selection table below). Current consumption is as low as 10µA.

Evaluation Board
The E11x evaluation board demonstrates the capabilities of the QT110, QT113 and QT118H QTouch™ ICs.
Quantum recommends the use of either the QT100 or QT102 for new single-channel touch sense designs. The E11x board is available in limited volumes.
Please contact us if you would like to obtain one of these older boards.
