Drogheda, Quantum Research Group Ltd. (Ire) announces the opening of a new design, support, and technology licensing business unit at Millmount, Drogheda. The company will work with Quantum Research Group UK to develop touch-sensing controls for products such as domestic appliances, mobile phones and personal media players, and will focus especially on touch screen solutions. It will also engage in technology transfer work, technical support, and deal with the contract administration of the Group’s expanding IP portfolio. Quantum Ireland is now actively recruiting in the areas of intellectual property law, administration, electronics engineering, embedded software development and applications engineering. Quantum UK is also actively hiring in the areas of hardware, embedded software development, and applications support.
Quantum Research Ireland also announces the first in a series of new appointments. Joe Carroll, previously the finance director of NEC Semiconductor (Ireland) has been appointed Finance Director and Rian Whelan has joined from Motorola UK to head up technology development and support at the centre.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Hal Philipp has led the establishment of the new operation that is based within the NOVATION incubation facility at Millmount, Drogheda. Quantum received the support of the IDA Ireland in establishing this, its first operation in Ireland. The company also aims to instigate joint technology initiatives with local universities.
