Touch Screen Solution for Dynamic Household Automation Control

Colorado vNet comissioned Quantum Research Group to design a touch sensor for this unique, patent-pending lighting control dimmer touchpad.

Thanks in part to Quantum's unique capacitive touch technology, Colorado vNet's design has been recognized as Innovations Award Honoree at Consumer Electronics Show.

CES logoThe prestigious award was presented specifically for Colorado vNet’s revolutionary Touchpad which re-defines the nature of home automation input controls. Using capacitive technology Colorado vNet has created a touch-sensitive fully-electronic input control device that replaces traditional switches, dimmers and keypads.

CvNet touchpad in useOur solution is actually a touch screen in disguise! The clear touch-sensing layer inside the front panel allows any desired backlighting effect while providing a true X-Y coordinate output. The design permits the use of arbitrary button shapes via an internal graphic film insert.

The sensor film and chip uses our patented charge-transfer sensing methods along with a new patent-pending QField™ sensing layer and signal processing.

The design is proving to be a success not only in engineering terms, but with consumers as well. In the words of Colorado vNet CEO, Bill Beierwaltes:

"Quantum has greatly exceeded our expectations for product quality, innovation and professional design! In my experience, performance like this happens only once in a great while. So you are to be highly commended."
